Chapter 58

Chapter58 Then Let's See Who Wins In The End

Theodore's assistant regretted following Marissa. He should've headed back to the office and reported to Theodore that his task was done.

He stepped back, hands at his sides, avoiding the documents offered.

"Just accept those shares, Marissa," Marc said firmly, a rare edge in his voice around his sister. He sensed Marissa's swirling thoughts. Opening the car door, he gestured for her to get in first. "It's no big deal for Theodore and me."

Just then, a figure crept closer.

Rosie took advantage of her petite frame, slipping under Marc's arm and darting into the car. She quickly settled beside Marissa. Marissa's faint smile vanished, replaced by a cold, unreadable expression. Rosie, looking disheveled after being thrown out by security, hurriedly straightened her clothes and forced a bright smile. "Miss, could you give me a ride? Just drop me at the plaza ahead." Having finally gotten close to the Curtis family,

Rosie wasn't about to let the chance slip away.

"Get out," Marc snapped. He had held back before, but her persistence tested his patience.

Marc's assistant, who had just opened the front passenger door, froze in surprise at his boss' tone. When he turned, he noticed the unfamiliar young woman in the back seat and quickly stepped forward to remove her.

Rosie shrank back, clutching at Marissa's sleeve to avoid his grasp.

"Get out," Marissa said flatly, The assistant was startled and retreated rapidly when Rosie was thrust directly into his arms.

Rosie hit the ground with a thud outside the car,the impact jarring her senses.

She hadn't expected Marissa to have such an edge to her.

Back at Culinary Oasis, Marissa had been calm and soft-spoken. Rosie realized she had completely misread her.

For a moment, Rosie just sat there in shock, staring up at the people in the car.

"Getting in?" Marc asked casually from inside, glancing toward Theodore's assistant who stood by the door.

The mnan shook his head slightly and gestured behind him. "I should head back and report to Mr.Brooks."

Marc gave a short nod, leaning back in his seat.Only then did Marissa come into view, seated quietly behind him.

"Miss Curtis, I'll be leaving now," the man said politely.

Marissa gave a small nod in acknowledgment.

As soon as the car door began to close, Rosie snapped out of her daze and wedged herself between the door and the frame, crying out pitifully, "Sir, please-give me a ride! I just broke up with Bernie, and he went mad. He's going to hit me! Please, help me!"

Her voice trembled as she clung to Marc's leg, tears streaking her face.

She knew men like him hated public drama-his reputation was her last hope.

When Marc didn't react, Rosie's panic deepened. She turned desperately toward Marissa, her voice raw. "Miss, you're a woman too! Are you really going to watch Bernie drag me off? If he catches me,he'll kill me!"

Marissa rested her cheek on her hand, her tone flat and detached. "Even if he does, that's not my concern."

For a second, Rosie was speechless.

Fine-then they couldn't blame her for what was coming next.

Her face twisted with anger, ready to lash out, when Miriam suddenly appeared. She grabbed Rosie firmly by the arm and yanked her to her feet.Without so much as glancing at the people in the car,she said apologetically, "I'm sorry. Rosie isn't herself today. Please don't take it to heart."

Rosie's eyes went wide with fury.

How dare Miriam ruin her plan! "I'll take her back to the hospital," Miriam added quickly, stealing a glance at Marc before addressing Marissa. She reached into her pocket and offered a business card. "Here's my contact information."Marissa didn't even look at it. "If she's unstable, make sure she gets proper treatment. Don't let her wander around like this," she said coolly.Miriam's hand stiffened before she pulled the card back.

Seeing a chance, Rosie jerked free and screamed, thrashing in protest. "Miriam, I know what you're up to! Let go of me!"

But Miriam's patience had run dry. Her eyes went cold as she shoved Rosie's head down, hissing through clenched teeth, "Shut up, you bitch."

"Get in," Marissa ordered sharply, slamming the car door shut and startling Marc's assistant into motion.

Marissa also saw through Miriam's intentions.

Both women clearly had their sights set on Marc.

Marc's assistant quickly slipped into the car.

As the vehicle pulled away, Theodore's assistant discreetly took out his phone, snapping a quick photo of the two women still grappling on the ground. Then he turned to leave.

"You bitch!" Rosie roared as she scrambled up,slapping Miriam hard across the face, her eyes flashing with rage. "Don't think you can use me as a stepping stone to get close to Mr. Curtis!"

Miriam's lips curved into a cold, mocking sneer. She seized Rosie by the hair, yanking her head back as she hissed, "Whatever I've set my eyes on,

you'd better stay far away from."

Rosie spat at the ground, a dark smile curling her lips. "Still the same shameless snake, I see."

After all, she had met Marc first.

"Then let's see who wins in the end," Miriam said icily, releasing her grip and walking off without another glance, leaving Rosie standing there, trembling with fury.
