Chapter 54
Chapter54 Apologize To Our Big Boss Now
Marissa stood a short distance from Jaxton. Her eyes flicked past Marc, settling softly on him.
After discovering Marissa's true identity,Jaxton felt the weight of her gaze, heavy and oppressive, as if it pinned him down, leaving him breathless and unable to resist.
Panic surged.
Did the big boss see him as incompetent, incapable of handling even a minor issue?
No, he couldn't let the big boss think so poorly of him.
Jaxton resolved to deal with Bernie decisively,no more leniency.
"Step aside," he said, nudging the colleague between him and Marissa, then approaching her with a respectful attitude.
"Boss, I checked into the matter on my way here. It's all a misunderstanding! Rest assured, I'll crack down on them to ensure this doesn't happen again!" Boss?
Marc's expression turned pensive, glancing at his newly reunited sister.
Marissa met his look unflinchingly.
Their eyes locked briefly, but they said nothing to each other.
Jaxton had only heard a quick summary from the head waiter and didn't know the full story.
He had hurried over because the head waiter said Bernie had clashed with Marc, all because Bernie's girlfriend claimed she had nearly been assaulted.
Bernie, defending his new fling, had lashed out at Marc and his companion.
Bernie was a recent hire at the restaurant through connections.
No one would have thought he would cause such a huge mess, crossing the Curtis family and the big boss.
Jaxton's face flushed with anger.
What was Bernie thinking, picking a fight with the wrong people? It was so reckless.
Breaking an antique plate by accidentally bumping into a display case? Even if it was intentional,so what?
The restaurant was Marissa's-she could do as she pleased.
"You, get over here!" Jaxton beckoned Bernie sharply.
Bernie pointed at himself, stunned. "Me?"
"What are you waiting for? Apologize to our big boss now!" Jaxton's expression darkened.
What? Big boss?
Bernie was stunned.
Onlookers who hadn't planned to linger found themselves glued to the scene, some pulling out phones to record.
Bernie, burning with resentment, approached Marissa, bewildered. How was this woman the big boss?
Marissa just smiled, silent.Seeing him tongue-tied, Jaxton clapped a heavy hand on his shoulder. "Why are you standing there mute?""L." Bernie, feeling awkward, couldn't speak, his face red, avoiding Marissa's gaze. "Boss, I promise, we'll make sure this never happens again!" Jaxton said, covering for Bernie's silence.
"I..." Bernie attempted to speak again, but the words were stuck in his throat.
Jaxton continued, "Boss, it's my fault for not managing things properly, letting you and Mr.Curtis get caught in a misunderstanding..."
"I'm sorry!" Bernie shouted, cutting Jaxton off.
Jaxton's anger boiled over.
Bernie had frozen when it was his turn to speak, and now, as Jaxton tried to smooth things over,he was causing more trouble.
"Why are you yelling?" Jaxton snapped, glaring at Bernie, his frustration spiking. "Show some respect, or you're done here!"
Bernie bit back his protests under Jaxton's glare and muttered another apology. "I'm sorry, boss.I misjudged you and didn't know who you were."
Jaxton caught the snide edge in Bernie's tone and, glancing at Marissa's expression, kicked him sharply."Apologize properly!"
Who did Bernie think he was fooling with that attitude? Jaxton could barely resist rolling his eyes at the chaos Bernie had caused.
Bernie took a deep breath, forced a weak smile, and bowed his head, utterly deflated. "Boss, I'm so sorry."
Rosie's face twisted with dismay.
She hadn't anticipated that the woman she had targeted was the top boss of the restaurant,Culinary Oasis.
This wasn't just a local chain in Ozreka-it was a global powerhouse, a name known wherever people dined.
Marissa, with her low-key appearance, was the big boss?
It was hard to believe.
Some onlookers who had been recording slipped their phones away, also taken aback by the revelation of Marissa's identity.
Culinary Oasis was run by three key figures.
One of them was a familiar face, coming from a family entrenched in the global food and hospitality scene.
The other two figures, however, were seldom seen in public.
Who could have guessed the big boss would show up so unassumingly?
