Chapter 57

Chapter57 Share Transfer Forms

Marc's assistant handed the documents to Marissa, hoping she would accept them rather than Theodore's assistant's.

Marissa lifted a brow, curious about what was going on.

But before she could speak, Theodore's assistant made his own move. He stepped forward with a polished smile and presented his documents openly. "Miss Curtis."

Marc's assistant felt his eye twitch.

Seriously?

That man had the nerve to use that kind of smile just to hand something over? Was he trying to flirt his way through this?

Marc's assistant shot him a discreet glare, debating whether to involve his boss, only to spot Marc himself approaching, walking with that unmistakable confidence.

Marc stopped beside Marissa, his sharp eyes instantly taking in the scene.

Aside from his own assistant, Theodore's assistant was there. The man was composed, distant, and had the same cool demeanor his boss was known for.

"Theodore sent you?" Marc asked, adjusting his cufflinks with an easy grace. His eyes dropped briefly to the documents the man held, one brow arching in mild amusement. Theodore certainly knew how to play his cards-clever, deliberate, and clearly aiming to impress Marissa.

Marc's assistant, reading his boss's expression, stepped closer and murmured quietly, "Mr. Curtis,he was already here when I arrived."

He wasn't sure exactly how long Theodore's assistant had been there. The Brooks family, it seemed, always found a way to stay one step ahead.

He caught himself mid-thought, refusing to let his mind wander too far. He looked again at Theodore's assistant, who stood perfectly still with the same polite expression, as if carved from stone. The man's composure was almost admirable. Everyone working for Theodore carried that same mysterious air, like they'd been trained to stand still for hours without breaking character. He hadn't seen this particular assistant before, though.

Once he'd finished reporting, Theodore's assistant explained, "Mr. Brooks heard Miss Curtis was dining here and asked me to deliver this to her."

He was careful not to bring up the earlier disturbance, keeping his tone neutral and his eyes politely on Marissa.

Both assistants held out documents, and Marissa, having already guessed what they were about, calmly reached out to take the documents from Theodore's assistant. A quick glance was all it took for her to realize they were share transfer forms from the second-biggest investor of Culinary Oasis. She smiled slightly and asked, "So, your boss is one of the owners of Culinary Oasis?"

She'd only ever talked to the other two owners through email and had never actually met any of them face-to-face.

Remembering the secretary Jaxton had just talked about,Marissa's sneered, and her eyes sharpened.

Theodore's assistant had no idea what was inside those papers; he was just following Wilbur's instructions. He avoided meeting Marissa's eyes, knowing that answering her question could get him in trouble.

However, as Theodore's representative, he couldn't exactly stay silent either, not in front of Marc.

From what he knew, Theodore had nothing to do with Culinary Oasis, and the Brooks family definitely didn't dabble in the restaurant business.

He gave a courteous smile. "I'm sorry, Miss Curtis. You'll need to ask Mr. Brooks directly."

After all, he was only the messenger.

It was safer to let the main parties sort things out themselves.

"Oh." Marissa's tone turned lighter, almost teasing. She gave the folder a soft tap with her fingers while looking at him.

Theodore's assistant just kept that polite, practiced smile.

Marc's assistant hesitated before instinctively reaching forward to hand over another set of papers.

All three pairs of eyes instantly turned toward him.

Caught off guard, he almost pulled his hand back, but Marissa reached out and took the papers from him as well, treating it no differently than before. She skimmed through the pages, then lifted her gaze to Marc.

"Do you like it?" Marc asked casually as they headed toward the exit together.

Theodore's assistant paused for a moment, then followed behind.

"I do," Marissa replied easily. She wasn't the type to be overly formal with Marc. She liked the gifts that Theodore and Marc had given her.

Now Culinary Oasis was hers alone, even if it was just the Ozreka branch.

"Glad you like it," Marc said, giving her a gentle pat on the head. Still, a flicker of guilt passed through him-if he'd handled things better earlier, this whole mess could've been avoided.

Marissa went straight to the point. "So, did you negotiate for those shares, Marc?"

She knew the third owner's personality. They weren't the type to give in easily. Whoever they were, they hid behind a voice changer every time they spoke. To this day, she still had no idea if it was a man or woman.

Somehow, the other two owners had agreed to hand over shares to Theodore and Marc. Was it really that easy?

"Yeah." Marc nodded, smiling gently. "I didn't expect you to be the big boss, Rissa. I was planning to wait until you were done with those people before sending the papers over."

Things, however, hadn't exactly gone as he'd planned.

"Then you should give these back," Marissa said firmly. She didn't plan to keep something that wasn't earned. To her, taking what didn't belong to her wasn't the right thing to do. After saying that, she turned and handed the other folder to Theodore's assistant walking behind them.

The other two owners were both cunning businessmen. Maybe they had already caught wind of her ties to Theodore and Marc?
