Chapter 36
Chapter36 Dr.Moore Is Here
The group of orthopedic specialists Barry had brought in exchanged surprised looks.
None of them had heard that Dr. Moore was at Harmony Hospital. They were told they'd be meeting Maxton, the promising young doctor who had recently returned from abroad.
They'd all heard of Dr. Moore's name, of course. His reputation had spread far and wide, but what was someone like him doing here?
Was he part of Harmony Hospital's staff?
It seemed Brent had rushed over just to meet him.
"So Dr. Moore is here, huh?" one of the experts murmured.
Everyone in the medical field knew about the case that had put Dr. Moore's name on the map, the one where he performed a leg surgery on an elderly man who had been paralyzed for years.
That single operation had completely changed how veteran doctors viewed young surgeons.
Before that, no one had even taken him seriously. To the medical community, Dr. Moore had just been another rookie hardly worth noticing.
When the news broke, the internet went wild.Articles, discussions, and speculation flooded every corner of the web. Some even offered outrageous sums on the black market just to uncover Dr. Moore's real identity.
Yet, despite the frenzy, no one managed to dig up any personal details about him. All they knew for certain was that the operation had been a resounding success.
One mysterious hacker even left a cryptic message online, claiming that Dr. Moore came from a powerful, mysterious family, and his background was so well-protected that it was impossible to trace.
Two years later, that same elderly man had not only recovered completely but was now living an energetic life. He often posted cheerful updates online-jogging, dancing, even hiking-proof of Dr.Moore's extraordinary skill.
"Wait, did Dr. Moore perform Mr. Rayden Curtis's surgery?" one of the doctors blurted out, his eyes lighting up as he tried to move closer to get a look at Rayden's leg, only to be stopped by his colleague. The Curtis family wasn't exactly the kind of people you approached without permission.
Curiosity alone wasn't enough reason to take liberties here.
Barry, meanwhile, looked completely out of his depth. Holley had mentioned Dr. Moore before but hadn't gone into much detail, and now seeing Brent rush in like that only added to his confusion.
"Mr. Barry Curtis," one of the doctors began carefully, taking the hint from his peers. "Dr.Moore's skills are truly extraordinary. With him in charge, your uncle's recovery should be swift." He hesitated before adding, "Would it be possible for you to share Dr. Moore's contact details with us?We'd love to consult him if he's willing."
People always said that learning never really stopped. Even the most confident experts, those used to being admired, would lower their pride and ask questions when they met someone genuinely skilled.
"That's such a relief to hear," Barry replied with a tight smile, deliberately ignoring the expert's probing question.
He didn't have Dr. Moore's contact number, nor did he realize that Dr. Moore was the one who had performed Rayden's surgery.
But how could he possibly admit that now?
"You didn't see Dr. Moore?" Brent asked as he strode in, his sharp tone cutting through the silence.
The experts instantly recognized Brent, a respected veteran in their field, and one of them quickly replied, "No, sir. We arrived after Mr.Rayden Curtis's operation was completed. The procedure was flawless, and the suturing was impeccable. Dr. Moore has incredible technique. In all my years in medicine, l've never seen such precision."
Brent'sbrow furrowed as suspicion flickered in his eyes. He had a feeling that Dr. Moore was still around.
But who could it be?
His sharp gaze moved across everyone in the room, studying each face.
Theodore? Unlikely. He had never shown the slightest aptitude for medicine. Definitely not him.
When Brent's gaze landed on Holley, he frowned."Holley/? Don't tell me you've been missing lectures again?" Holley, who was rubbing her injured leg, turned pale. Her studies revolved around medicine and Brent was one of her professors.
"Dr. Wallace, as soon as the surgery was done, Dr.Moore left. I didn't even get a chance to see him,"she said quickly, cutting him off before he could start one of his usual long lectures. "I only came because Rita was brought to the hospital. My cousin made her so upset that she actually fainted."
When her eyes landed on Marissa standing close to Theodore, anger flared in Holley's chest. If not for her injured leg, she would've marched over and pulled them apart.
Maxton hadn't said a word about any of this to Brent. He wasn't the type to gossip or get involved in family drama.
"What exactly happened? How did Rita faint? Is she alright now?" Brent asked.
His flood of questions only made Holley more frustrated. "You should ask my cousin," she said quickly, biting back the pain. "She came earlier, so she might have seen Dr. Moore."
Deep down, she was certain Marissa had no idea who Dr. Moore even was. "What's wrong with your leg?" Brent's eyes narrowed as he noticed the dark bruises marring Holley's knee.
No one had bothered to ask before, but now that the question was out, Holley couldn't hold back any longer. Tears welled up quickly and slid down onto her hands.
Seeing her like this, Brent's heart ached. He felt a pang of protective sympathy. After all, he had always treated Holley like his own granddaughter. He turned to Maxton, who was standing quietly beside him, and instructed gently, "Go get an ice pack."
"Okay," Maxton replied, his expression calm as his eyes briefly flicked to Holley's injured knee. The bruises looked fresh, and for a moment his gaze lingered on Marissa, who remained composed and unruffled nearby. He wondered silently who she was.
